Estate 'Luchtenburg' in Ulvenhout

New centre of food education and inspiration in a hospitable environment

De Smaakspecialist lands on the property ‘Luchtenburg’ in Ulvenhout
In March 2020 de Smaakspecialist has moved its headquarters to the estate called ‘Luchtenburg’ in Ulvenhout The Netherlands. De Smaakspecialist is thrilled to be landing on this special piece of property and to manage its land. Settling into our new home brings us back to both the roots of our company (founded in Ulvenhout) and the roots of our products (surrounded by nature).

A sustainable world begins at the office
The new location enables us to truly share who we are, what we stand for and what we know. This way ‘Luchtenburg’ becomes an extension of de Smaakspecialist and her mission to make good food for a sustainable world accessible and create awareness around it. The impact projects, which evolve around creating awareness about good food, can come to life in the spaces and facilities of the location has to offer. How about teaching a KidsProef class or organzing an Organic Kitchen dinner for instance. The possibilities are endless.

Pieter Dirven, founder of de Smaakspecialist: “It is a beautiful spot surrounded by green, matching our DNA. This is the place where our future dreams will come true and our impact increases even further. Amongst others, we will transform nature and realize an organic tasting farm!”

Landgoed Luchtenburg

A piece of history hidden in the woods

Estate ‘Luchtenburg’ is situated South of Breda in Ulvenhout Alphen-Chaam. It originates from 1518, when count Hendrik III van Nasseau gave land to its rent master lord Montens. By then the property of 65 acres consisted of woods, and fens and formed a whole with the properties Valkenberg and De Hondsdonk. The beautiful tithe barn is the oldest building, presumably from 1524. The farm is a little younger. The classic country house dates from around 1700. Over time the property has known many owners and many changes.
